Shine 03:25
It seems we often need a small reminder When the good times come enjoy then while they last And it's easy yeah so easy to forget that when The future comes it won't be like the past Now I've heard we're made of billion year old carbon Just like a star a diamond or the sun And it's easy yeah so easy to forget sometimes Just how quickly it can all become undone And it doesn't really matter so much how or why The bits and fragments came to intertwine What matters is you're here and like the sun you Are warm and bright and do your best to shine The moon and stars at rest are an illusion You'll find the truth to be self evident Eventually we all reach the conclusion That life is just one big experiment And it doesn't really matter so much how or why The bits and fragments came to intertwine What matters is you're here and like the sun you Are warm and bright and do your best to shine

Capsized 03:26
They say that life is short and time here is so brief Full of possibilities and promise And the pleasant feeling when you're dancing near the edge Might help numb the pain and ease the sadness And still I feel capsized Set adrift on a sea of despair Yeah, I feel capsized Clinging to the hull of my life, and gulping for air The planet owes you nothing - life is seldom fair Full of darkness, selfishness and greed Everyone pursuing goals that really aren't their own Hoping they get everything they need Ahhh sometimes I feel capsized Set adrift on a sea of despair Yeah, I feel capsized Clinging to the hull of my life and gulping for air

Never be ashamed that you have a heart That bleeds for everyone that you come across With pain that weighs you down like an albatross Never be ashamed for feeling that you have a heart Don't apologize or feel that you're not enough You can't please everyone just who the hell are they to judge Your life is meant for you and not the doubters out of view They have issues to work though And your life is meant for you We just want to make a difference when you boil it down Make life good for ourselves and for those we're around We want them to remember so they know we were here So we do the best we can before we all disappear When all is said and done What's left is what the world is coming to The losers lose the winners win and all that's really left is you Your life is meant for you and not the doubters out of view When all is said and done What's left is what the world is coming to We just want to make a difference when you boil it down Make life good for ourselves and for those we're around We want them to remember so they know we were here So we do the best we can before we all disappear

Two Things 03:07
Tryin' to make two things happen at the same time Ain't so easy when you're doin' it at night time While working with your left brain On an archetypal paradigm Your heart is on the right side And it's waiting for the prime time One pays the rent and one makes you content One makes you wonder how your life has been spent When you've waited all your life for a colossal achievement It's not an accident, you gave a hundred per cent I love my friends but I'm not so good At showing how I feel like a good friend would I've been relying on the glue to spackle up the cracks and my Sincerity is hidden in the wisecracks and comebacks Finally you see that you're employed to be destroyed You have to do what you enjoy, you have to make a little noise And then it isn't hard to see it when you finally find your voice Then you wonder why you waited For so long to make your choice I love my friends but I'm not so good At showing how I feel like a good friend would I've been relying on the glue to spackle up the cracks and my Sincerity is hidden in the wisecracks and comebacks

On this beautiful night we'll be best friends forever We'll share all of our dreams we'll tell jokes and be clever We'll share all of our secrets and our fears And we'll talk and we'll laugh Like we've known each other for years On this beautiful night we'll sit out by a fire And we'll wait for the stars and the moon to rise higher And we'll talk and we'll plan to climb ladders and mountains And we'll promise we'll always be there For each other to count on While we're sitting in the moonlight It's like nothing else matters More than the next word that you'll say While we're gazing at the starlight All our problems and troubles and fears Seem like light years away On this beautiful night we'll be best friends forever We'll share all of our dreams we'll tell jokes and be clever We'll share all of our secrets and our fears And we'll talk and we'll laugh Like we've known each other for years

Get Together 02:35
Have a look outside it's balmy with a beautiful breeze Partly cloudy in the morning With a chance of catchin' lazy disease You know your work will always be there And there always will be people to please So gather up some friends make some plans Make a ruckus make a scene Make a memory make a stand Make it small make it grand or in between Just remember that a memory makes you real And the stuff is just a dream When you're on your deathbed waiting for the bitter end What you're gonna remember Is the time you spent with your friends And not the money you that made And that you never had the time to spend Have a look outside it's gonna be a beautiful day Have a look outside it's gonna be a beautiful day Let's get everyone together cause it's time to go out and play

about

Paul's musical influences include hanging out on the Minneapolis West Bank/Cedar-Riverside neighborhood soaking up performances by John Koerner and Willie Murphy. And pianos. There were always lots of pianos around growing up as the son of a minister. He would bang out tunes on them at every opportunity and gained performance experience as a pre teen playing for church services and funerals

He's performed with bunches of bands over the years playing mostly covers. Several years ago he decided that, with a bit of life experience behind him, it was time to start writing songs. That decision has resulted in the debut release of an Americana/rootsy/jazzy/ flavored six song EP entitled Capsized.
